FAMILY—RUN SINCE DAY ONE
Bridport's Indian restaurant since 1988
Sundorbon opened its doors on South Street in 1988 and has been feeding Bridport ever since. Three decades on, we're still a family business and still doing the same two things: proper sit-down Indian dining and hot takeaway.
In 2019 the restaurant was taken over by Mashayel Ahmed, son of the previous owner and a Bridport boy himself. He grew up a few streets away.
From Bridport to London, and across India
After university, Mashayel moved to London and spent years eating his way through the city's best Indian dining rooms — the places setting the standard for the cuisine in the UK.
Travelling across Asia, and India in particular, turned that interest into an obsession: regional cooking, family recipes, spice blends you won't find in a jar.
He brought all of it home. Today Sundorbon pairs a talented kitchen brigade with a modern, welcoming dining room — an Indian restaurant that keeps evolving with the town it belongs to.
Award-winning Indian food in Dorset
Our recipes come from years in the culinary industry and are built on quality: properly sourced meats, whole spices ground in-house, and fresh vegetables prepared daily.
That work has been recognised nationally — Sundorbon was a winner at the Curry Life Awards 2023 & 2025, judged among the very best curry houses in the UK.
On the menu you'll find regional curries, baltis, tandoori dishes straight from the clay oven, freshly baked naans, speciality rice and biryani, and a long list of chef's recommendations you won't see elsewhere in Dorset.
There's plenty for vegetarians and vegans too. As mild or as fiery as you like it — tell us what you want and we'll cook it your way.
Lunch, dinner, takeaway and delivery, seven days a week
We're open every day of the week for dinner, and for lunch every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 2pm.
Our delivery service covers up to 10 miles from Bridport, taking in West Bay, Bothenhampton, Burton Bradstock, Symondsbury, Loders, Chideock, Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Beaminster and more.
With a large kitchen and our own team of drivers, we get restaurant-quality Indian food to your table — wherever that table happens to be.
